A full day of specialist wildlife photography in a private countryside setting

Capture powerful raptors in flight, perched in natural settings, and up close, all in a quiet rural location not open to the public. Led by award-winning photographer Andrew James, this immersive experience offers incredible photo opportunities with a wide range of stunning birds of prey. With just 8 participants per session, you’ll get plenty of individual attention, expert guidance, and unrestricted views.

This experience is perfect for wildlife photography enthusiasts looking to sharpen their skills—or for those who simply want a memorable day photographing awe-inspiring creatures in an unforgettable setting.

You’ll photograph a curated selection of birds, including species such as:

Held at our Milton Keynes site at Alder’s Farm Fishery, the experience takes place in a private conifer woodland and the open meadow behind. How many can attend?
This is a private falconry experience for your group—whether a couple, a family, or a corporate team. The half-day session is flexible and can be tailored to your needs. Come down to Barn Owl Hollow for an excellent bit of entertainment and education. I can come to your premises but it obviously costs more as on top of the actual travel costs there is a lot of time involved in packing and setting up which explains the first extra charge being higher. After that it is to cover the travelling.

Suitable for six year old upwards. They will get to fly and handle some of our owls and hawks and be entertained by all the fascinating facts surrounding them.

As this is a private session numbers are up to you and up to 12 is good for older attendees, bearing in mind you are sharing the time. Keep in mind when young kids get together they start to get more distracted with each other when numbers increase.

During this falconry experience you will learn about the differences between the hawks, owls and falcons and experience the thrill of them flying to your fist and feeding them and remember this is a falconry experience just for your group.

How many can attend?

This is a falconry experience just for your group be it a couple, a family or corporate group. This is a flexible half day and can be formatted to suit your needs. Participant numbers are up to you as your ticket covers all attending. However, we suggest upto six is very good, six to ten is fine but once you get over that things start to get diluted. It really does depend on what you want from the event as we have had groups such as a local Womens Institute with 20 or more and they had a great time as they were realistic as to how much interaction each would have with the birds.

Our full-day Falconry Adventure is the ultimate experience for anyone who wants to spend a day living the life of a falconer. During this immersive experience, you’ll meet and fly a wide variety of birds — from hawks and falcons to majestic eagles and charming owls.

Have a Hoot – Owl Encounter for Children

A Magical Owl Experience for Ages 4–14

A charming and gentle introduction to birds of prey, designed especially for children. This 30-minute hands-on owl experience gives youngsters the chance to fly and handle real owls, including the beautiful barn owl and, when possible, the mighty European eagle owl—one of the largest owl species in the world!

We’ve created this session just for kids, but if an adult would love to take part too—good news! Adults are welcome to join in by booking their own ticket.

What to Expect

Children will begin by flying one of our calmest owls to and from their gloved hand. It’s an incredible moment—seeing such a graceful bird soar toward them in open countryside. The experience continues with close encounters and photo opportunities with some of our larger owls, and often ends with a chance to meet and (when the bird is in the mood) hold one of our most impressive stars, like the majestic eagle owl.

Sessions are relaxed and usually shared with a small group. While the activity is set for 30 minutes, we’re often flexible with time to ensure each child gets plenty of flying action.
